After-School Activities Cancelled Due To Air Quality Alert
An air quality alert due to a large marsh fire in eastern New Orleans has resulted in cancellation of after school activities by St Charles Parish Public Schools. The air quality alert was issued by Department of Environmental Quality. Spokesperson for St Charles Rochelle Cancienne Touchard said that all the after school activities have been cancelled. Meanwhile other schools also took steps by cancelling outdoor activities. The Harry Hurst Middle School cancelled football practice, but after school indoor activities such as cheerleading and volleyball were continued. Hahnville High School announced that cross country and wrestling activities have been cancelled but dance, cheerleading and swim team practice would continue being held. Schools where no activities were cancelled said that they would be monitored closely with precautions being taken.
